Can a Self Taught Writer Train Others?

Is it possible for a self-taught writer with a unique style to train fledgling writers to write excellent articles? Many people want to be writers but the get intimidated, due to the competition in writing. If you look on the Internet you see many very good writers, professionals who have been writing all their lives. If you are new like I was to writing 9-months ago, it is a little overwhelming and yes extremely intimidating, but you can do, I did. I have to admit when I started writing I truly “sucked,” I mean I should probably use a more politically correct term such as “needed improvement” but that would be a lie, because, well, because I really did suck; it was that bad.

Since that time I have written 2884 articles not including this one. And although my writing could stand to use a little work, it is passable and people seem to enjoy reading what I write. You see, if I have done this over a 9-month period from scratch with no training, then with a little training you should be able to do it in less than a third the time. You can become a better writer in 3-months. How so you ask? Well there are eBooks on writing articles online and several experts in the field. Having developed training programs for my company; CarWashGuys.com, I think that any training a new author gets will be worth its weight in gold. Perhaps an online training boot camp could be worthy for you and there are some available and additional resources at EzineArticles.com via The Golden Knight. Why do training programs or boot camps work so well? Well all such skills use them and it is how you go from good to great or like me from “sucks” to good? For instance when artists learn to draw they try new techniques, sketching an apple, a face, a house, perspectives, landscapes, people.

If you want to learn to write more online articles with better quality you should get involved in a training program of some time. I believe that a practice writers training group might be a way to do an “online boot camp.” Each exercise could be discussed with a mentor. The mentors would be one of the Authors who has written 100 or more articles. Each author would volunteer to take a few fledgling authors under their wings who really were serious.

I believe such a program could word, as each article exercise would be somewhat customized to the new writer’s business model, areas of interest and helping them as they go. There will be an outline of which exercises to be given and customized to the individual new writers.

You know I have always found when you teach something, “You” learn too and so, those good folks who volunteered to train the newer authors would actually be helping themselves by helping others, and that would be a wining combo indeed. I would volunteer to help up to ten authors at a time at no charge, if they understand that I am not perfect but still to this day learning as well. The newer trainees would need to allow me that imperfect status during instruction.

I also volunteer to develop syllabus outline for others. I further volunteer to start this week to train 3-5 new authors as a test, while I learn from what is working best to modify the program and develop a basic template training program. Then take this experience, along with those who absolutely specialize in training to modify the program. Additionally I believe that the first three groups of 3-5 authors; working with each group over a two-week period each, will provide the data needed for a world class online writer’s training program. Then we can launch the actual program January 1, 2006 and blast this website and all the authors in the orbit once and for all.

Do I have any volunteer beginner authors who would like to start? I am getting bored in my retirement and we have a world to wake up with lots of good articles. So let’s do it, as it is a “Triple Win,” more articles, better articles, I learn, they learn and we can develop a program that will serve the up and coming superstar writers of tomorrow.
