Religion, Well It is Not About Truth Really

Many people subscribe to a religion of some type. Some take it very seriously others simply follow along as a matter of cultural indoctrination. Many believe that religion is good, as it keeps people honest and they can cite many examples and reasons for this. Others say that Organized Religion has caused more wars and killed more people than any other human made event in our recorded written history. So which is it?

Well it is both and some will point out that; “as a result religions miss the truth about who we are and what is really going on here.” Although the Organized religions claim to have all the answers including such things as;

How did the World begin?

Why are we here?

How should we live our lives while we are here?

What happens to us when we die?

How will the World end?

Many critics of religion say that; “those who choose to supplement the absence of this experience in themselves with religious doctrine of any kind are just allowing themselves to be manipulated. The results of such manipulation are very clear when you look at what is going on on this planet.”

Indeed it is hard to argue that most all Organized Religions have their faults as well as attributes in our civilizations. But one could also argue for the most part religion is not about truth it is about control, it is not interested in truth, some followers may be, however the reason for the formation is strictly to control using many techniques such as explaining the fear of the unknown. It seems to work well for those who use the techniques of religion.

So is religion good or bad; or does it depend on those who lead it and those who follow? Is it the responsibility of each member of an organized religion to be forthright and keep the religion from slipping into hypocrisy? Is it time for all religions to be disbanded or come clean on their true mission? Think on this, it is an interesting subject.
