Your Denial of Your Bad Habits Could Put You and Your Loved Ones in Deep Distress in a Hurry

Dan liked to party. He loved to have friends over and live it up, with music and chit chat. But, Dan had a serious problem.

He drank heavily. He consumed at least 80 ounces- two bottles a week-- of alcohol. Hard stuff! He had been doing this for many years. But, lucky for him he inherited good genes for his parents and grand parents so he did not feel the pressure coming on. He was tall, strong and robust. He took everything nature had given him for granted ---a psychological feeling I suppose—that he is invincible.

Dan had diabetes that progressed gradually as he aged. Most of his friends did not know that he secretly tested his blood sugar level daily. Although his friends and family made suggestions about his extreme drinking habits, he dismissed them with denial remarks like: there is no proof that alcohol and cigarettes hinders your health…and many other similar comments. They strongly suggested that he do physical exercises daily to overcome the huge weight he had gained from his over indulgence in food and drink..

Then at the age of 63 he had a shock of his life. He started to have double vision and numbness on his feet. He almost crashed his car. I guess it was either his double vision symptoms or numbness in his feet or both that was the culprit. He started to walk with a gait and a whole series of adverse activities followed in just a few months. He had to use a cane to keep his balance. He had difficulty driving his car. He had difficulty taking a shower. And because of his balance and his inability to maneuver around by himself properly, he rarely took showers afterwards. He started to have a bad smell and his body odor became stronger and stronger, like the smell of something that is dead for a few days, and if you observed carefully, his clothes became more dirty with the dead skin that do not get washed off from frequent bathing or showering.

Sores began to form on his body. An abscess formed on his back and he tried to cure it himself, as he did in the past, several times. Lucky for him they were healed. But this time he had to be hospitalized and the abscess finally healed. But, it left a large scar like a small crater on his back this time. Dan’s health became worse.

Dan was then hospitalized and put in a rehabilitation program. The remedy was : EXERCISE. But it had to be administered by a Physical Therapist, his physical condition was that far gone. He recovered for a while and started to walk very well again, not as before, but can handle himself on his own.

Dan did not last long after that. He died. His organs were far too damaged as they were being starved of enough oxygen. The blood flow that these organs needed were inadequate to stay healthy and this was due to his thickened arteries brought on by unhealthy living. His body could not handle the exercise anymore.

The lesson from this is: An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. In other words: do all you can to keep your body in good health. If you don’t, you may have to rely on others to help you get around or you could even shorten your life.

Then, make every effort to follow a good diet and EXERCISE program right NOW! This is of paramount importance. Love your body. Learn about how it works and treat it with the utmost respect. It is the only one you have. Keep it going.

Live long and prosper!
